BC3 Overview
The Building Component Cost Community (BC3) database provides costs for primary building components, including walls, fenestration, equipment, and energy efficiency measures. Component costs may vary by location and manufacturer, and may change over time. To capture the dynamic nature of the cost data, this database will be linked with several user-input software tools; many of the costs are represented as ranges for the user to review.
Select Browse Database to begin browsing. There you will find data categorized by source, building type, building component, construction category, and others. You will be able to use either a faceted search function or simply browse to retrieve desired information. Selecting a specific component will provide general information and relevant cost data, allowing the user to export cost data to Microsoft Excel® and provide input about the cost data.
Select Downloads to view or save source reports and cost tables.
Choose Location Factors to access location factor information.
Go to Site Map to view the general structure of the database.

By opting-in to BC3’s registration, you will be able to assist us in the future with database design and contribute further data, as needed. You will also be among the first to receive notifications of major database updates and supplemental information.
The registration profile includes an option to sign up for additional newsletters. These newsletters will keep you posted on software updates, energy code news, and analysis related to energy code requirements.
